There are three girls who have claimed me as theirs. The girls names are Insama, Purnema, and Irati. These girls are refugees from Nepal, their families are all practicing Hindus. Christianity is highly discouraged in their homes.
Two weeks ago, I was thrown back by Insama’s question “SARAH SARAH !! Can you PLEASE give me a bible?” I have never seen a little girl so happy to own the word of God. Her excitement warmed my heart. After running it through our missionary contact I was able to bless her with a bible.
The second I gave it to her she grabbed a hold of my arm, and pulled me to the shade. Insama and I sat down while Pernema and her sister Irati joined us. The girls sat in my lap and began to ask question after question as I read them the birth of Jesus from the book of Matthew. “Did God born Jesus? Does God believe in Jesus? Does Jesus believe in God? Are God and Jesus the same thing? I heard Jesus died on the cross or something.. what does that mean?!” These girls were eager because they know Jesus is the reason for me bringing 25 teenagers to come play with them daily.
Words cannot explain the joy that my heart was feeling as these girls and I conversed about Jesus. The days are long and hard here with Adventures Youth but moments like those make any kind of hard work well worth it. Please continue to pray for these girls. They are curious ladies who are young and teachable. Pray that they will understand the gospel and desire to follow Jesus.
