Just Listen

As God began to put in my heart that He wanted me to join the AIM Atlanta Mission Trip, I immediately said you are crazy!  But as the deadline began to approach I finally handed the check and began the process.  That is when God began to speak to His child.  “Diana it is ok to be lacking as I have gone before you and prepared you and I will never leave or forsake you.  So the journey began. 
 
The first “task” of the mission trip was to ride Marta and just love on the people there.  Fear won over this first task, well at least to some point.  Then the lady with the word search book got on the train.  Common ground!  God definitely knows His children.  For the 5 minutes we just sat and worked word searches together.  So God used this small step and met me where I was to let me know He truly is faithful.
 
Saturday morning dawned a new day and new opportunities to serve my “Abba Father”.  There I met TJ.  A wonderful man who has spent the last several years traveling from town to town and is now in Atlanta.  Tj loves the Lord but due to extenuating circumstances he finds himself now leaving on the streets.  As I just sat and listened, I learned of his life story and God used this man to speak into my life.  His saying when someone wants to argue with him and there is confrontation is “Hold that thought, I will be right back”.  Yea even from a man who has met with some tough times God can speak through you.
 
Our assignment for lunch was to go into Subway and buy a sandwich.  So standing in line I was a little confused as to what kind to buy.  Tonya kept telling us to ask God.  You mean God cares about what sandwich someone wants???  You bet!  God even knows the person’s favorite chips and cookie!  So the sandwich purchase and the steps began for God to show me that person.  God said sit here!  I was REALLY confused as there was no one there.  How was I to share a sandwich with an empty bench!!!  But I was obedient and just sat!  You see that is what God wants from us to just listen and be obedient!!!  A man sat in the seat and God says that’s him and this is also the person that I want to do bless with what I have given you.  The man and I began to talk and he said what you got in that bag?  My lunch.  Then he said my favorite sandwich from Subway is a Club with lettuce, tomato, pickles, mayo and mustard.  You got it!  That is exactly what God has nudged me to buy!!!  Small coincidence!  Nope!  Just got being at His best!  So began to at our sandwiches and just chat.  He told me his story of where he was!  God said just listen!!!  So listen I did!  God revealed a man who just wanted someone to care enough to listen!  Then as he reached the bottom of the bag tears came to his eyes!  He said, “God even told you what my favorite cookie was???  Thank you! “  God is a God of miracles and meets people right where they are.  He shared with me that to find a job but he needed to be able to have transportation to get to places to look and that his “Marta Card” did not have any money left on it.  God says this is what I want you to do.  So I grabbed my pastor and we went Tim to the Marta station and blessed a life that God wanted us to pour into. 
 
All God expects of us is to be available and He will provide the opportunities to be His hand and feet.
