I went into this week with a great attitude about going around Atlanta and spreading the gospel to the homeless. As we started the week though, I was a little shocked that we were going to a place called English Oaks. It’s an apartment complex where refugees from many different nations live. At English Oaks, we played with a bunch of kids who all had a different background. It was a great experience because my team was able to just play with the kids. Often these kids aren’t able to be kids. While their parents are away at work, they have to be the adult. They are in charge of making sure that their brothers and sisters get food and are safe. During our time at English Oaks, one of my leaders saw the opportunity to talk to a young adult that was watching us play soccer with the kids. He was eventually able to share the Word with him. It was encouraging to see that even though we were in a place where it’s hard to get into deep conversations God provided someone for us to talk to.

At another ministry site, we helped out at a homeless feeding program. There we passed out food to some of the local homeless population. Once the food ran out, we approached some of the people that were still eating and started to talk to them. In one of my conversations, I was given the opportunity to pray with the man. I hope that I was able to plant a seed for God in this man’s life.  All in all it was an exciting week, and I am sad that it is over. I hope that through my acts, God can move some of the people I came into contact with.
